We’ve recently worked on filling out the beautiful outdoor area beside the cabin with a large campfire pit, free firewood (stacked and ready for you, look at pics) and hot tub. This yard area has beautiful views of nature.

The Stokesville Campground was called the Stokesville Park for 50 years and is still known as such by the locals. It is just a great place to spend the day. Let us know if you want to come ride – hike – relax or fish. You can pay our day use fee at the Stokesville Market from 6:30 am to 9 pm.  Pay AND obtain your pass before you enter. Anyone not doing so in this order can be charged with trespassing. The pavilion bathrooms are open.

This open area campground was originally constructed as a CCC camp. Evidence of the original sites and logging trails still remain today. North River Gorge is a popular hiking, biking, and fishing area with a swinging bridge spanning the North River. Close proximity to Wild Oak National Recreation Trail, Stanton Dam Day Use Area and Elkhorn Lake provide multiple recreational options that are easily accessible within a few miles.

Candy Hill Campground is a beautiful campground located just outside of Winchester, Virginia. Candy Hill Campground is a wonderful place to stop if you’re traveling through or looking for a spot for that perfect vacation away from it all. Our Name

The Candy Hill name comes from an interesting past. No, it is not what most guess, we are not candy givers nor are we a Christmas themed park. The truth behind the story is that years ago there was a farm house where our campground now stands and as a story book would say, there was a little girl who lived there. She had a dog who passed away and was buried on the hill behind the farm house and luck have it, the dogs name was Candy. From then on the hill was referred to as Candy’s Hill, hence our name, Candy Hill Campground.

Vernon, Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, and only 2 hours to Historic Colonial Williamsburg or Washington, DC. Many Civil War Battlefields, wineries, and Antique Shops are just minuets away. Great Mountain hiking can be found at nearby Old Rag Mountain. Our pavilion is great for social cookouts, bingo or you may rather just relax by the fishing pond. Devils Backbone Camp is a 73 site camp ground featuring full hook up RV sites, dry RV sites and primitive tent camping. Within walking distance to the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows, Devils Backbone Camp offers you a unique camping experience like no other. Little Fort is a minimally developed recreation area located near the meadow that was once a rest stop for a stagecoach line. Camp Roosevelt Campground is the site of the first Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in the Nation. Follow the path through the CCC camp and view the foundations where the actual buildings once stood. Proud and lofty oak trees create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a simple picnic or camping out with friends or family.

It’s hard to imagine, but the Shenandoah Valley was once the floor of a great inland sea. Centuries ago, as that sea receded, the forces of nature carefully etched out an awe-inspiring formation of solid rock. The seven Natural Chimneys tower as much as 120 feet above the pastoral terrain of the Shenandoah Valley, offering onlookers a sight unrivaled in majesty.

Viewed from one angle, the formations resemble enormous chimneys standing in bleak contrast to the greenery of the Valley. Take a few steps, though, and the chimneys are transformed into the massive turrets of a foreboding medieval castle.

Natural Chimneys Park in Mt. Solon, Virginia offers more than simply the splendor of towering limestone formations. Both day visitors and those who choose to stay overnight in the seasonal campground find plenty of space and opportunities for recreation, relaxation and fellowship.  The park is open for day use from dawn to dusk, seven days a week.

Campsites are large and shaded with water/electric and a dump station to use by the campers upon departure of the campground .The campground Ranch has onsite fishing that is catch and release for anyone staying in our RV or tent sites.  The campground ranch property also borders George Washington National Forest for hiking that can be enjoyed by the campers. The ranch offers guided horse back riding for guests staying at the campground or off site. With a seasonal creek and being 15 mins to Luray Caverns, swimming holes, tubing and kayak rentals, guests staying at the campground can experience a week stay easily. Each RV campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. There is a small shower house and separate bathroom. Campers can purchase ice or firewood or other small conveniences needed while tenting. A covered pavilion is great for camping clubs and their potlucks, where a central fire ring can be found. Enjoy cool mountain air and hike or go ATVing, or fly fishing. Fort Valley The campground at Fort Valley Ranch is only 15 mins to 2 touristic towns for all the campers modern conveniences, shopping and wineries. Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park are great places for the campers to hike.

Cabins include full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utensils. They have a shower, sink, toilet, wi-fi, picnic tables, fire ring and have heating and air conditioning.  Guests supply all linens including towels, sheets, blankets and pillows. (In room breakfast coming soon plus linens will be included)

Sherando Lake Recreation Area is known locally as the jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Families enjoy picnicking in this shaded and woody area, while relaxing on the sandy beach of a 25-acre spring-fed lake. Access to multiple trailheads and rustic architecture provide numerous points of interest for families to enjoy.

Thomas Jefferson’s magnificent Monticello is a big draw here, and so is the woodsy Charlottesville KOA in the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills, where dogwoods bloom in spring and hardwoods blaze with brilliant fall colors. It’s just a half hour to Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway for stunning vistas, hiking trails, cave tours and waterfalls. Visit a trio of historic sites: Monticello, Highland (home of James Monroe) and Michie Tavern, where a costumed staff serves an 18th-century lunch. Also tour Jefferson’s lovely University of Virginia campus and Walton’s Mountain Museum, which recreates some of the real John Boy’s life. Graves Mountain Campground by Shenandoah National Park in the VA Blue Ridge is OPEN 365 days a year. Primitive camping. On an 1100 acre farm of woods, meadows, horses, cattle, and crops – all right under Shenandoah National Park in Madison County, Syria VA, On 25 acres of meadow and trees, we have camping  on a “pick your own place” basis.

Camp OutBack has 25 wooded campsites under a canopy of hardwoods and white pines. The campground borders George Washington National Forest and has a walking trail to the Shenandoah River (1/4 mile). Shenandoah River Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. State Park, known generally as Shenandoah River State Park, is a state park near the town of Bentonville, Virginia. The park was established in 1994, and covers 1,619 acres along the South Fork Shenandoah River.

This park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. The park opened in June 1999. In addition to the meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. A large riverside picnic area, picnic shelters, trails, river access and a car-top boat launch make this a popular destination for families, anglers and canoeists. Ten riverfront tent campsites, a campground with water and electric sites, cabins, camping cabins and a group campground are available. With more than 24 miles of trails, the park has plenty of options for hiking, biking, horseback riding and adventure.

Camp Roosevelt Campground is the site of the first Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in the Nation. Follow the path through the CCC camp and view the foundations where the actual buildings once stood. Proud and lofty oak trees create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a simple picnic or camping out with friends or family.

The Blue Ridge Mountains seem to roll on forever from the vantage point of this wonderfully rural yet convenient campground, nested atop a high hill above the Shenandoah Valley. Cruise along the famed Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, just a few miles away, or explore the park’s countless hiking trails. Nearby outfitters rent canoes and tubes for floating the Shenandoah River. The ranch offers guided horse back riding for guests staying at the campground or off site. With a seasonal creek and being 15 mins to Luray Caverns, swimming holes, tubing and kayak rentals, guests staying at the campground can experience a week stay easily. Each RV campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. There is a small shower house and separate bathroom. Campers can purchase ice or firewood or other small conveniences needed while tenting. A covered pavilion is great for camping clubs and their potlucks, where a central fire ring can be found. Enjoy cool mountain air and hike or go ATVing, or fly fishing. Fort Valley The campground at Fort Valley Ranch is only 15 mins to 2 touristic towns for all the campers modern conveniences, shopping and wineries. Shenandoah River Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. State Park, known generally as Shenandoah River State Park, is a state park near the town of Bentonville, Virginia. The park was established in 1994, and covers 1,619 acres along the South Fork Shenandoah River.

This park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. The park opened in June 1999. In addition to the meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. Our Name

The Candy Hill name comes from an interesting past. No, it is not what most guess, we are not candy givers nor are we a Christmas themed park. The truth behind the story is that years ago there was a farm house where our campground now stands and as a story book would say, there was a little girl who lived there. She had a dog who passed away and was buried on the hill behind the farm house and luck have it, the dogs name was Candy. From then on the hill was referred to as Candy’s Hill, hence our name, Candy Hill Campground.

The Lafayette Inn & Restaurant are proud to announce that we’ve become the first Restaurant and Inn in the region to be acknowledged for our Green commitment by complying with the requirements set forth in the new Virginia Green program.

Built in 1840, The Lafayette Inn is a historic landmark. It has served as a community centerpiece of the area accommodating the needs of stage coach travelers and local residents. The building has served as a hotel, restaurant, saloon, boarding house and as a hospital during the Civil War. In more recent times it housed the first Stanardsville telephone exchange and the local newspaper.

The Lafayette is designed in Federalist style with three levels and sweeping colonnaded porches. The frame is of hand-hewn mortise and tenon beams with fifteen-inch-thick walls of local red brick.

It’s hard to imagine, but the Shenandoah Valley was once the floor of a great inland sea. Centuries ago, as that sea receded, the forces of nature carefully etched out an awe-inspiring formation of solid rock. The seven Natural Chimneys tower as much as 120 feet above the pastoral terrain of the Shenandoah Valley, offering onlookers a sight unrivaled in majesty.

Viewed from one angle, the formations resemble enormous chimneys standing in bleak contrast to the greenery of the Valley. Take a few steps, though, and the chimneys are transformed into the massive turrets of a foreboding medieval castle.

Natural Chimneys Park in Mt. Solon, Virginia offers more than simply the splendor of towering limestone formations. Both day visitors and those who choose to stay overnight in the seasonal campground find plenty of space and opportunities for recreation, relaxation and fellowship.  The park is open for day use from dawn to dusk, seven days a week.

This open area campground was originally constructed as a CCC camp. Evidence of the original sites and logging trails still remain today. North River Gorge is a popular hiking, biking, and fishing area with a swinging bridge spanning the North River. Close proximity to Wild Oak National Recreation Trail, Stanton Dam Day Use Area and Elkhorn Lake provide multiple recreational options that are easily accessible within a few miles.

The Stokesville Campground was called the Stokesville Park for 50 years and is still known as such by the locals. It is just a great place to spend the day. Let us know if you want to come ride – hike – relax or fish. You can pay our day use fee at the Stokesville Market from 6:30 am to 9 pm.  Pay AND obtain your pass before you enter. Anyone not doing so in this order can be charged with trespassing. The pavilion bathrooms are open.
