Built in 1840, The Lafayette Inn is a historic landmark. It has served as a community centerpiece of the area accommodating the needs of stage coach travelers and local residents. The building has served as a hotel, restaurant, saloon, boarding house and as a hospital during the Civil War. In more recent times it housed the first Stanardsville telephone exchange and the local newspaper.

The Lafayette is designed in Federalist style with three levels and sweeping colonnaded porches. The frame is of hand-hewn mortise and tenon beams with fifteen-inch-thick walls of local red brick.

 Hourly, half-day and full-day horseback rides on our mountain horses, as well as multi-day Ranch Packages with Cabin . Campsites are large and shaded with water/electric and a dump station to use by the campers upon departure of the campground .The campground Ranch has onsite fishing that is catch and release for anyone staying in our RV or tent sites.  The campground ranch property also borders George Washington National Forest for hiking that can be enjoyed by the campers. The ranch offers guided horse back riding for guests staying at the campground or off site. With a seasonal creek and being 15 mins to Luray Caverns, swimming holes, tubing and kayak rentals, guests staying at the campground can experience a week stay easily. Each RV campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. There is a small shower house and separate bathroom. Campers can purchase ice or firewood or other small conveniences needed while tenting. A covered pavilion is great for camping clubs and their potlucks, where a central fire ring can be found. Enjoy cool mountain air and hike or go ATVing, or fly fishing. Fort Valley The campground at Fort Valley Ranch is only 15 mins to 2 touristic towns for all the campers modern conveniences, shopping and wineries. Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park are great places for the campers to hike.

Cabins include full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utensils. They have a shower, sink, toilet, wi-fi, picnic tables, fire ring and have heating and air conditioning.  Guests supply all linens including towels, sheets, blankets and pillows. (In room breakfast coming soon plus linens will be included)

Our rustic vacation mountain cabins are decorated in the country style from small one of a kind items to antiques thru out. Snuggle up with warm blankets or our comfortable quilts. If you need extra space when you sleep, all of our cabins have queen sized beds. The kitchens at our rustic vacation mountain cabins are fully equipped with full sized stove/ovens, refrigerators, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker, dishware, cookware, and utensils.  The cabins have gas grills on the decks for grilling out. The outside fire pits are great for roasting hot dogs or marshmallows over an open flame to give you that camping feeling.

If you want privacy, then our rustic vacation mountain cabins are for you. Our cabins are not in big subdivisions where you have cabin beside cabin. They are private; they sit on 2 to 12 acres of quiet, wooded settings, with mountain views around you. No major roads close by so there isn’t any traffic noise. These are some of the nicest log cabins in our area.  A word about cleanliness. Rest assure that the cabins are clean. We pride ourselves on keeping it that way. We are a small owner of cabin rentals, and we clean them ourselves.

Romantic and comfy country hideaway on a ridge above Buffalo Ck. with Blue Ridge Mountain views. 10 minutes to historic Lexington and fifteen to Natural Bridge. Three rooms with full private baths and gas log fireplaces; two of these have over sized whirlpool/shower combinations and one with private hot tub. Sherando Lake Recreation Area is known locally as the jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Families enjoy picnicking in this shaded and woody area, while relaxing on the sandy beach of a 25-acre spring-fed lake. Access to multiple trailheads and rustic architecture provide numerous points of interest for families to enjoy.

The town of Luray is quaint and very visitor friendly.  You will find numerous antique shops, food and drink from ice cream and coffee shops to food shacks, great bar-b-cue and gourmet dining, all within walking distance.  You can even get legal moonshine at the local ABC store! Yea-Ha!  If you want to work off those luscious calories you can take a stroll on the town ‘Greenway’ walk along the Hawksbill Creek, a short walk in itself from the South Court Inn.

Graves Mountain Campground by Shenandoah National Park in the VA Blue Ridge is OPEN 365 days a year. Primitive camping. On an 1100 acre farm of woods, meadows, horses, cattle, and crops – all right under Shenandoah National Park in Madison County, Syria VA, On 25 acres of meadow and trees, we have camping  on a “pick your own place” basis.

The Blue Ridge Mountains seem to roll on forever from the vantage point of this wonderfully rural yet convenient campground, nested atop a high hill above the Shenandoah Valley. Cruise along the famed Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, just a few miles away, or explore the park’s countless hiking trails. Nearby outfitters rent canoes and tubes for floating the Shenandoah River. This KOA is close to Luray Caverns and offers easy access to several Civil War sites, including New Market Battlefield State Historical Park and Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. The campground’s spacious grounds include shady sites, a pool and a ball field.

You will not see another human being for a half mile in any direction, but you’ll see plenty of deer, bear and wildlife! Inside the cabin, you’ll find spacious living areas, comfortable bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen and large HD televisions.

It’s hard to imagine, but the Shenandoah Valley was once the floor of a great inland sea. The seven Natural Chimneys tower as much as 120 feet above the pastoral terrain of the Shenandoah Valley, offering onlookers a sight unrivaled in majesty.

Our Name

The Candy Hill name comes from an interesting past. No, it is not what most guess, we are not candy givers nor are we a Christmas themed park. The truth behind the story is that years ago there was a farm house where our campground now stands and as a story book would say, there was a little girl who lived there. She had a dog who passed away and was buried on the hill behind the farm house and luck have it, the dogs name was Candy. From then on the hill was referred to as Candy’s Hill, hence our name, Candy Hill Campground.

This home away from home is located feet from the Shenandoah River. Enjoy making memories sitting in the hot tub, gliding in a canoe, or warming by a fire. We have added new mattresses for your comfort. All pots, pans, utensils, are provided along with coffee maker and toaster. The beauty of nature surrounds you while sitting in the the hot tub, reading a book on the screened in porch, fishing, canoeing, or relaxing by a fire. This is a very clean, modern cabin with rustic touches to make you feel at home. We have recently added new top-quality mattresses for your comfort. All linens and towels are provided for maximum sleeping capacity.

RIVERSIDE CAMPING LLC is located on the South Fork of the beautiful Shenandoah River in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, between the Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains. Family owned and operated since 1970.

This open area campground was originally constructed as a CCC camp. Evidence of the original sites and logging trails still remain today. North River Gorge is a popular hiking, biking, and fishing area with a swinging bridge spanning the North River. Close proximity to Wild Oak National Recreation Trail, Stanton Dam Day Use Area and Elkhorn Lake provide multiple recreational options that are easily accessible within a few miles.

The Stokesville Campground was called the Stokesville Park for 50 years and is still known as such by the locals. It is just a great place to spend the day. Let us know if you want to come ride – hike – relax or fish. You can pay our day use fee at the Stokesville Market from 6:30 am to 9 pm.  Pay AND obtain your pass before you enter. Anyone not doing so in this order can be charged with trespassing. The pavilion bathrooms are open.

We offer 2 rustic cabins for your peaceful vacation getaway. Our cabins are located on River frontage, with easy walk out access to the river from either yard! Both have central air and heat.

Our cabins are private riverfront properties. Mountain and meadow views surround the properties and are abundant with wildlife, and yet they are close to our town of Luray,Va. which is home to the famous Luray Caverns and just minutes away from Shenandoah National park.

In the winter enjoy the breathtaking snowy river and peaceful country setting. Massanutten Ski Resort is located close by for skiing,tubing and they also have an indoor waterpark.

Both provide beds for up to six guests. Both come with everything in the kitchen to cook up tasty meals, whether it be small or holiday occasions.

Enjoy swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking just to name a few. Sit under the stars and relax by the side of the fire (both have their own fire pits).

Shenandoah River Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. State Park, known generally as Shenandoah River State Park, is a state park near the town of Bentonville, Virginia. The park was established in 1994, and covers 1,619 acres along the South Fork Shenandoah River.

This park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. The park opened in June 1999. In addition to the meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. A large riverside picnic area, picnic shelters, trails, river access and a car-top boat launch make this a popular destination for families, anglers and canoeists. Ten riverfront tent campsites, a campground with water and electric sites, cabins, camping cabins and a group campground are available. With more than 24 miles of trails, the park has plenty of options for hiking, biking, horseback riding and adventure.
