Close proximity to Wild Oak National Recreation Trail, Stanton Dam Day Use Area and Elkhorn Lake provide multiple recreational options that are easily accessible within a few miles.

Camp Roosevelt Campground is the site of the first Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in the Nation. Follow the path through the CCC camp and view the foundations where the actual buildings once stood. Proud and lofty oak trees create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a simple picnic or camping out with friends or family.

Here at Shenandoah Hills Campground, our sites are tucked away into a forest setting and are just waiting to become your cozy vacation home. Some of our sites have water and electric and our full hookup sites will easily accommodate larger RVs. We have 67 sites in all, as well as some rental units.

Shenandoah Hills Campground is the most amazing and wonderful place for you to laze away the days by the pool or take a luxuriating nap in the shade. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, wander to the surrounding area and discover the magnificence of the Blue Ridge Mountains and all they have to offer including horseback riding, hunting and fishing.

Located among the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Mount Vernon Farm has been passed down through eight generations of the Miller family. It’s hard to imagine, but the Shenandoah Valley was once the floor of a great inland sea. Centuries ago, as that sea receded, the forces of nature carefully etched out an awe-inspiring formation of solid rock. The seven Natural Chimneys tower as much as 120 feet above the pastoral terrain of the Shenandoah Valley, offering onlookers a sight unrivaled in majesty.

Viewed from one angle, the formations resemble enormous chimneys standing in bleak contrast to the greenery of the Valley. Take a few steps, though, and the chimneys are transformed into the massive turrets of a foreboding medieval castle.

Natural Chimneys Park in Mt. Solon, Virginia offers more than simply the splendor of towering limestone formations. Both day visitors and those who choose to stay overnight in the seasonal campground find plenty of space and opportunities for recreation, relaxation and fellowship.  The park is open for day use from dawn to dusk, seven days a week.

Accommodations and Camping options  available.  Bring your own horse and enjoy direct access to the 100’s of miles of trails in the National Forest.  We’re only 1.5 scenic hours from Northern Virginia and Washington D.C and minutes from Luray Caverns.

Campsites are large and shaded with water/electric and a dump station to use by the campers upon departure of the campground .The campground Ranch has onsite fishing that is catch and release for anyone staying in our RV or tent sites.  The campground ranch property also borders George Washington National Forest for hiking that can be enjoyed by the campers. The ranch offers guided horse back riding for guests staying at the campground or off site. With a seasonal creek and being 15 mins to Luray Caverns, swimming holes, tubing and kayak rentals, guests staying at the campground can experience a week stay easily. Each RV campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. There is a small shower house and separate bathroom. Campers can purchase ice or firewood or other small conveniences needed while tenting. A covered pavilion is great for camping clubs and their potlucks, where a central fire ring can be found. Enjoy cool mountain air and hike or go ATVing, or fly fishing. Fort Valley The campground at Fort Valley Ranch is only 15 mins to 2 touristic towns for all the campers modern conveniences, shopping and wineries. Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park are great places for the campers to hike.

Cabins include full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utensils. They have a shower, sink, toilet, wi-fi, picnic tables, fire ring and have heating and air conditioning.  Guests supply all linens including towels, sheets, blankets and pillows. (In room breakfast coming soon plus linens will be included)

Our rustic vacation mountain cabins are decorated in the country style from small one of a kind items to antiques thru out. Snuggle up with warm blankets or our comfortable quilts. The kitchens at our rustic vacation mountain cabins are fully equipped with full sized stove/ovens, refrigerators, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker, dishware, cookware, and utensils.  The cabins have gas grills on the decks for grilling out. The outside fire pits are great for roasting hot dogs or marshmallows over an open flame to give you that camping feeling.

If you want privacy, then our rustic vacation mountain cabins are for you. Our cabins are not in big subdivisions where you have cabin beside cabin. They are private; they sit on 2 to 12 acres of quiet, wooded settings, with mountain views around you. No major roads close by so there isn’t any traffic noise. These are some of the nicest log cabins in our area.  A word about cleanliness. Rest assure that the cabins are clean. We pride ourselves on keeping it that way. We are a small owner of cabin rentals, and we clean them ourselves.

The Lafayette Inn & Restaurant are proud to announce that we’ve become the first Restaurant and Inn in the region to be acknowledged for our Green commitment by complying with the requirements set forth in the new Virginia Green program.

Built in 1840, The Lafayette Inn is a historic landmark. It has served as a community centerpiece of the area accommodating the needs of stage coach travelers and local residents. The building has served as a hotel, restaurant, saloon, boarding house and as a hospital during the Civil War. In more recent times it housed the first Stanardsville telephone exchange and the local newspaper.

The Lafayette is designed in Federalist style with three levels and sweeping colonnaded porches. The frame is of hand-hewn mortise and tenon beams with fifteen-inch-thick walls of local red brick.

The Stokesville Campground was called the Stokesville Park for 50 years and is still known as such by the locals. It is just a great place to spend the day. Let us know if you want to come ride – hike – relax or fish. You can pay our day use fee at the Stokesville Market from 6:30 am to 9 pm.  Pay AND obtain your pass before you enter. Anyone not doing so in this order can be charged with trespassing. The pavilion bathrooms are open.

Camp OutBack has 25 wooded campsites under a canopy of hardwoods and white pines. The campground borders George Washington National Forest and has a walking trail to the Shenandoah River (1/4 mile). You can drive to boat landings within 1/2 to 1 1/2 miles. Camp OutBack is 10 miles from Luray and in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley close to Shenandoah National Park.

Romantic and comfy country hideaway on a ridge above Buffalo Ck. with Blue Ridge Mountain views. 10 minutes to historic Lexington and fifteen to Natural Bridge. Shenandoah River Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. State Park, known generally as Shenandoah River State Park, is a state park near the town of Bentonville, Virginia. The park was established in 1994, and covers 1,619 acres along the South Fork Shenandoah River.

This park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. The park opened in June 1999. In addition to the meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. Our Name

The Candy Hill name comes from an interesting past. No, it is not what most guess, we are not candy givers nor are we a Christmas themed park. The truth behind the story is that years ago there was a farm house where our campground now stands and as a story book would say, there was a little girl who lived there. She had a dog who passed away and was buried on the hill behind the farm house and luck have it, the dogs name was Candy. From then on the hill was referred to as Candy’s Hill, hence our name, Candy Hill Campground.
